Back in the old forgotten pre-corona times, I used to go on a comic hunt once or twice a month. I'd make a big circuit around town and hit all the best places... Barnes and Noble for the brand new stuff, 2nd & Charles for stuff I could actually afford, and Chamblin Bookmine for the weird stuff. But anyway, coronavirus personally locked me into my little apartment and since I despise ordering things online I haven't read any comics all year. Enter September... to be honest, I don't remember why I decided to go out but I did and I bought a whole lot of books. I actually read Ghostopolis a few years back, but I picked it up because it was really cheap and it's a story about the afterworld, which, as we all know, I am always game to read. It's fine. It's a simple, straightforward adventure story. Although it has some fun world building elements (I loved Joe and some of the little technology bits) it's never very complicated or intricate. The characters are also pretty one-dimensional and their arcs are predictable. Not something I'd re-read often, but a fun light read. I feel like I liked some of TenNapel's other work better, but I haven't read it in so long that I'm not sure.
Snapdragon is opposite in a lot of ways. Lots of world building, lots of character, not much in the way of straight-forward plot. I'll admit this book was more my speed. I loved the focus on little moments Snap spent with her friends and I really enjoyed the little background details.
